For example, arsenic is a naturally occurring substance that is odorless & tasteless and can enter municipal drinking water supplies drawn from groundwater sources. Arsenic is linked as a source of many cancers and can manifest itself with many serious non-cancer effects. To combat the threat of arsenic entering Municipal water supplies, the U.S. EPA has set strict limits for arsenic levels in drinking water, lowering the acceptable limit for arsenic from 50 ppb (parts per billion) to 10 ppb.
